Inauguration of Cha Nien steel Bridge at Trieu Ai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri Province
A new 39 metre-long bridge with its width of 2 metres, its load of 2 or more tons and its 250 metre concrete path was officially inaugurated on 19/07/2017 in happiness and excitement displayed on the faces of many attendants after their 50 years’ expectation, since 1968 when the former was broken down during the severe war attacks in Quang Tri province.
Many local inhabitants were happy to flock together accross the bridge
This strong steeled bridge cost over 250 million dongs (15000 AUDs) funded by TU HOA-CICG, as a result of donations from more than 80 donors from Australia, the USA and Vietnam. In fact, the whole cost should have added up to 350 million dongs if the wages had been included for: Ba Dat, a major constructor, who designed, guided his builders how to construct parts of a bridge and oversaw their performances; Mr. Thanh, who acted as a coordinator and a great assistant to Ba Dat in every respect, also managed and supervised with care his workers how to construct two strong abutments and 250 metre concrete path; and many volunteers who were engaged in creating this loving bridge. They were all happy to take part in making it without any money demanded at all.
On this event, Mr. Thanh, on behalf of TỪ HÒA-CICG, handed in 20 gifts worth about 500 AUDs to primary students from very disadvantaged households within Nai Hiep hemlet and Ai Tu hamlet, connected by Cha Nien Bridge.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much indeed to Mr. Thanh, Ba Dat, Kiet, Hung, all donors and volunteers for making their great contribution to completing this significant bridge for thousands of local inhabitants, facilitating them to travel for their students’ schooling attendance, their mutual understanding, social relationship and and their work.
